Thiruvananthapuram: Several people were injured after a KSRTC bus crashed into the platform of Neyyattinkara depot here on Monday.

The injured are Chenkal native Lathakumari, Manchavilakom native Adithya and his two-year-old son Atharav, Sreekalakumari, Surya, and Nilamamoodu native Shanthi. The injured are rushed to the general hospital here.

The incident happened at around 3:45 on the third platform at the depot. Several people were standing near the platform at the time of the accident. The bus, which was parked in a nearby garage, lost its brakes as it approached the platform. The vehicle crashed into the platform, and the people who were seated on the concrete bench here suffered injuries.

The depot officials arranged an ambulance and rushed the injured to the hospital. Meanwhile, the staff is accused of not conducting vehicle inspections prior to operating services. The depot officials maintained that the accident was caused by a brake malfunction.
